Boysko now running for Congress

Anonymous
We were redistricted into her district. I voted for her on Tuesday and today I see she is running for Congress? I’m not pleased to know that she ran for an office she doesn’t want to keep. And it sounds like Youngkin can appoint someone to her seat until the next election so we will have an R senator if she wins? Yuck.

Pretty crappy move. Hope she doesn't win.

I don't know where you heard this but it is not true. There would be a special election just like there was when Wexton moved up and Boysko succeeded her.

I support EFC.

OP here. I thought there would be a special election but then I saw a Va code citation posted somewhere (I didn’t verify it myself) that the governor appoints someone to fill the slot until the next general election.

I’m not a fan of Boysko wasting our money for a special election either.

Why would Boysko be able to beat Filler-Corn? What has she done that would make her a better candidate? She grew up in Arkansas.

TLR: It says the governor *shall* issue a writ for a special election unless the vacancy occurs within 75 days of a general.

Atif Qarni has entered this race as well. Lots of bad options - only thing that would make it worse would be if Karl Frisch moved into the 10th and ran, too.

East Falls Church is in Beyer's district.

Ok, she grew up in Arkansas but has been in Virginia since the late 1980's - close to 35 years. She's lived in Herndon for 27 years. It's not like she just moved here right before she first ran for office.
