Ross, TJ Maxx, Marshall's, Burlington Coat Factory and Nordstrom Rack

If you recently shopped at these or similar stores, did you get good deals? Do you think quality and cost of your finds were worth spending time there? I'm asking for an UMC woman's perspective with other options.

No.
I found a couple quality clothing items at Nordstrom Rack recently, but they weren't particularly cheap.

I haven't found good clothing at Marshall's in ages, but it can be an ok place to grab a kitchen item or some pantyhose. Last time I was there, I was really struck by the endless racks of nearly identical cheap gray sweaters: there was not the variety you used to see when they actually got overstock inventory.

TJ Maxx Runway has great deals on things like Vince and Theory. I refuse to pay $400 for a sweater I can find there for $150. Ross and Burlington are a waste of time. Nordstrom Rack is hit or miss. Marshall's is more miss than hit for me.

I stopped going to factory outlets because it seems they sell more cheaper quality line not an overflow of real brand. Similar thing is happening at discount stores as well.

I miss Loehmanns.

There are factories that make clothes just for these places. They arent really overetocks of pricey brands anymore.

Based on geography. I can find nice stuff at Marshall’s near Tyson’s, but crap at the one in Sterling.

As of late I am pretty disappointed with the quality of women's clothing at all price points, to be honest. Everything I get from these stores is at least decent, and when it isn't, I only paid about $15-20 for any given item so it doesn't feel like much of a loss.

I love TJ Maxx and Marshall’s - and agree with the PP who mentioned they are location dependent - but have never found anything I liked at Ross and have barely ever gone to Burlington Coat Factory.

I found some MK coats at Burlington (they dropped the "coat factory" from the name), and a Juicy Couture bag for DD. Are they fakes? Who knows.

Every "top" (none of them are really sweaters) in these stores is made out of a polyester/cotton/rayon blend and they pill horribly in the wash.

I find good stuff at these stores all the time! We belong to the country club and have to wear dresses or skirts at the club and I don’t want to wear the same one a bunch… so I get Max Studio or similar dresses at these places that look really cute on me. People are always asking me where I got my dresses! For $20 a pop I don’t mind just wearing them once.

Different TJ Maxxes have way different appeal. The one by my house is outstanding, the one near my mom is lame.

I go to my local Nordstrom Rack for discount fancy bras. That’s it. That’s all I’ve ever been able to buy there.

Ross and Burlington - no
the others yes. I only go so often and I do buy some things online.
