I’m separating from my company at the end of the month. Hostile new management and assistant management is the reason I’m resigning, and they’ve escalated since I’ve announced I’m departing. I’ve never been reprimanded in the decade I’ve been with this company, but my new manager and assistant manager both dislikes me and has written me up twice since I’ve announced my resignation. I’ve just been told I may be written up again. It seems my assistant manager received notice that I was verbally abusive to someone in a different department in our office. Here’s the thing: the complainant is his wife, and he will be looking into the complaint.
This is a conflict of interest, correct? I think the just want me gone and out of their hair so they can bring on my replacement and are hoping these write ups will encourage me to leave early. This latest one just feels so dirty though, and I don’t think they should be getting away with it. |
| That is so odd. Just survive 2 more weeks, OP! Thanksgiving is right around the corner. Document everything in writing, don’t engage in any conversations. After oral communications, send an email documenting the meeting and any agreements or disagreements. |
I am trying! This is solid advice. I’ve been engaging and I think it’s only encouraging them. But this latest one is really bugging me. You’re saying I shouldn’t challenge them, just let it be? |
| Just walk out. |
I really need to get paid though! |
| What fun! They are burning all the bridges so there's really nothing to salvage. Is there a list of salaries or private email you can leave on the printer? |
Do you have any PTO? |
| Anyone else want to know exactly what it is that OP said to assistant manager's wife? |
That’s the other thing. I never speak to her. I can’t even recall a time in the past year that I have spoken to her. I feel like she was railroaded into making this up. |
| Do you have an HR department you can appeal to? |
| I wouldn't have given them any notice. Can you see if you can start sooner at your new job. But also, practically speaking, what is a write up from this company going to do for your future? It's not like your credit score will go down. Just ignore. |
Wow. That's terrible. I'd tell them off and walk out. |
|
I wouldn’t challenge. Let them investigate, should be interesting to see what they come up with since you haven’t spoken to her.
If they want to screw around & waste time for your last couple wks, let them. Take the high road & absolutely do not give up your pay check one day before you want to, they would love that - get every dime you can. |
