Do you stand up for yourself if your boss can be toxic or demeaning? Not calling out their behavior, but stating truth about yours.
Boss accuses, insults, gives some instruction that is offensive or completely disrespecting of what you do and have done for the company. Do you ignore or just say ok, or do you state 'I don't have a habit of doing that & wouldn't for xx reasons' or some other non-confrontational but clarifying response? One of my contracts, they are a very direct communicator but quite rude, and make a lot of assumptions. I'm mid contract on a file, and not seeing harm if I start responding when they are out to lunch on things. |

Yes, speak up. Respectfully, matter of fact, and keep receipts.
Boss: The work was late! You: Thank you for sharing your concern. It was my understanding based on your Friday email that the work was due Wednesday, and i provided you a copy for review on Wednesday. |
