Back story: DD is 11 and adopted. I haven’t seen any prior signs of adhd although I wasn’t really looking. Bio mom has it as does at least one bio sibling.
On line learning was awful at end of 2nd so I homeschooled for 3rd then she went into private for 4th ( thru now) no issues in class but she does terribly on tests. 6th grade has a lot more tests and quizzes than previously and I’m noticing that although she reads the instructions, even a couple of times she still seems confused on what to do. If I verbally tell her what it says in my own words she can do the work. Bit give her a worksheet or test and she struggles to focus and comprehend the work. Thoughts ? |

Could be, but also that maybe her auditory processing is stronger than her visual processing.

| What does her room look like? I have ADD and the first and biggest sign when I was a kid was that my room always looked like a bomb went off in it. I couldn't organize my thoughts enough to straighten it or clean it. I was fine academically until 7th grade. |

You need a neuropsych evaluation. It’s not clear that it is ADHD. It could be a learning disability. |

OP here. If I’m not on top of her it’s a mess. Shinguards will lay on the floor until I tell her to put them away, miscellaneous crap on her dresser, won’t put swim bag away unless told etc….. |

I agree. Or testing through school. I did an online checklist on my own for my kid and there's a LOT of ADHD boxes checked. I'm pretty sure that's it, but she also struggles with reading. I'm going through with testing to try to figure out if she really does have reading problems, or just can't pay attention or process what she's reading. |

| +1 for neuropsych eval. My DD is also adopted. There is a lot of maternal stressors that can absolutely impact neurochemistry--even if adopted at birth. |

I agree with those who say that it could be ADHD and other stuff so you need an eval. A pediatrician can dx adhd but not leaning disabilities.
Mindwell is in Virginia but you just hop on the 495. It tends to get good reviews. There's McGill, I think with a place in MoCo. |
