Steroid inhaler Fluticasone propionate

Anonymous
I am one of many who got that lingering dry unproductive cough and chest tightness for months post covid and I finally gave in and went to urgent care. This stuff is amazing, but OMG do I feel angry and tired. I thought steroid inhalers were less likely to cause roid rage. I am such a pissy witch who needs a nap. I feel sorry for my family, but I can breathe!

Also, for those who ask why I waited so long, my Dr. said so many people seem to feel better by the 6 week mark so I was hoping to avoid steroids or antibiotics unless absolutely needed. Hope anyone else who goes on this has an easier time.

Anyone else get side effects from it? So far no thrush...*knock on wood*.

It's just flonase. You can buy it over the counter.

Isn't flonase through the nose? That doesn't seem to bother me at all. The inhaler does.

Inhaled steroids can, less frequently, alter your mood or make you prone to irritation. You should let your doctor know you’re having this side effect so they can advise you.

My kid who is almost always sweet has had some pissy moments recently and we re-started daily fluticasone inhaler use recently. This post is so interesting, I am going to pay more attention to his moods and inhaler timing. I assumed it was tween hormone issues because he really is mostly kind and fun loving but had some angry bear after hibernation moments last week.

I’m on methylprednisone for this same cough and have the same irritation. Trying to keep it in check but I definitely feel it there.

Regular Flonase (not inhaler) caused DD’s anxiety to spike. It was terrible.

NP - they’re both fluticasone, a very, very commonly-used corticosteroid. We use it in a prescription cream for one of our kid’s eczema. Some people have reactions to it.
