I just had testing done and they found 50% blockage in my internal carotid artery. I have family history of strokes which is by I had the test done.
( I’ve also had some balance issues which I thought might be inner ear?) Dr. Google says surgery is not recommended until the blockage is 70% and at 50% management might be blood thinners or BP medicine. ( I have normal BP) While I wait to hear from my doctor, I’m reaching out to see if anyone here has dealt with this and what your doctor recommended? Thanks. |
| OP here- posting in case add by one else ever has the same question. My doctor said the results are fine and will be rechecked in 3 years. |
| Wow. I'm sorry to hear that. Have you meen eating a lot of industrial seed oils (e.g., canola, rapeseed, soy, and grapeseed oil) and processed foods? |
I don’t eat many processed foods, but a fair amount of soy milk and soy nuts. I’m planning to add more oats and beans to my diet. The sad part is I can’t tolerate statins! They make me very tired and achey. We also tried ezitimide and nexletol— same thing. So frustrating. |
Why do you people need to take this shit off topic? Did OP ask for your uninformed opinion about causes? Did University of Google School of Medicine teach you all about grapeseed oil and carotid arteries? |
Statins are terrible. Seeds and beans aren't the good people think. Atherosclerosis is caused by oxidation, inflamation, and glycation. |

Sorry, OP.
What prompted the test? I am wondering if symptoms are necessary or if some docs so preventative screening of carotid a. BTW, you may know already, but some people who don't do well on statins do better when they take coq10 to counteract muscle pain. |
*do* preventative screening |
