Weight loss Doc recs

Can anyone recommend a weight loss doctor in the area? I’ve gained 20lbs since having my ovaries removed. I need to stop the runaway train! I’m open to a functional medicine doctor. Thanks! Sarah

I go to Inova Weight Loss Clinic / Bariatric Surgery. I was put off by the name but it's not all surgery - they have a nutritionist etc. The wait to get an appointment was several months though: I used an app in the meanwhile.

Dr. Joe is the absolute BEST! He also doesn't push surgery. There are many options like nutritionists, WeGovy, etc.

I use NOVA Physicians Wellness Center. Wegovy prescription, regular checking with bariatric PA and dietician, I have a calorie and macro eating plan(heavy on protein), they helped me establish a strength training and cardio routine. I feel like I’m doing this safely and am well supported.

Looking for meds not surgery.

What office do you go to? Not OP but I've been going to the Arlington office and haven't received any of that (other than the Wegovy Rx, which do anything for me). No strength training or cardio routine, just a standard printout for a 900-calorie eating plan.

Scott Kahan at National Center for Weight and Wellness, which was the original center at GWU. They were going to open a satellite office in Bethesda, but I think the only one is still in DC, near Farragut North. After your initial appointments, you'll do some follow ups via zoom,

Once you get in is it hard to get follow up appointments?

+1000 on this. And as an additional plus, they are currently doing several clinical trials. I did the first Semaglutide clinical trial with them in 2018 and they continued to support me. They do not take insurance, but you can file a claim after.

Dr. Rubino is an endocrinologist.
