Hi I’m not over weight. But I eat less than 1400 calories a day and don’t lose weight and fear after years I’ve totally botched my metabolism. I’d like to find someone who will focus on my metabolism , help me figure out what foods work best for me, not just a low calorie type of thing. Suggestions- besthesda dc area |
I've worked with a dietician a couple of times. It's never really helped. YMMV. |
If you aren’t overweight, why are you trying to lose weight? |
Most people overestimate their maintenance calories 1) because they don’t know their real body fat percentage which seriously throws off the calculators 2) they don’t read the fine print on calorie burn for calculators based on activity level and don’t realize you can work our every day and still only qualify as “light exercise” depending on your duration/exertion.
Then, almost everyone underestimates what they’re eating. So you’re probably just wrong about all your assumptions and NOT your metabolism. |
I posted this from the stair climber and just finished. I’m 200 lbs, climbed 70 flights over 25 minutes at average HR of 145 and I burned… 160 active calories according to my Apple Watch. I do this 4x/week plus lift. So yeah. You gotta work out pretty hard and long to really move the needle. |
I'd never put in a plug for a nutritionist - they seem to be just as swayed by trends as I do! |
Nutritionist may be helpful if you are under fueling or incorrectly fueling for sport. In this instance, OP is out of energy balance in the wrong direction most likely. People don’t want to hear that though. |
