I usually have my favorite Nestle Toll House cookies, from chocolate chip to oatmeal scotchies.
However, I'm thinking this year I would like to try just one really outstanding cookie recipe for the holidays that doesn't have any nuts or chocolate, something that is not a sugar cookie. I read an article that the most popular holiday cookie is the peanut butter cookie with the hershey kiss in the middle. Any ideas? Or should I just go with my homemade from scratch Nestle Toll House cookies? |
| I was thinking if there's a carrot cake cookie, that sounds good. |
| Ginger bread! |
| OP here, my Italian grandmother used to make fig cookies that were iced with sprinkles. Is that just too ethnic and too old fashioned? I doubt kids would like the fig cookies. I thought about lemon cookies that my grandmother made, but once again, maybe those are too old fashioned and not something kids would like. |

The peanut butter/kiss cookies are really good and hard to find outside of the holiday season. That or mexican wedding cookies are my go tos and they are always a hit. |
Don’t know about kids but I would love if you shared both of those recipes! My beautiful Irish grandmother was a terrible cook so I don’t have recipes like that! |
People like the idea of gingerbread more than the reality. Most gingerbread gets thrown away. |
| I'm not a fan of gingerbread, but a total sucker for a chewy ginger cookie at Christmas time. These are excellent: https://bakedbree.com/best-ginger-cookies-ever |
The recipe starts with a basic cookie recipe that is used for all the cookies. It tastes similar to a sugar cookie recipe, except not as dry. Then the figs are rolled in the cookie dough, baked, iced, and sprinkled. The lemon cookies were my all time favorite. Same cookie dough recipe, shaped differently, iced with a lemon flavored icing. |

These have a nice holiday look to them and are totally delicious, especially a day or two after you bake them (they get better with time):

| I make oatmeal jumble cookies with chocolate chips, cranberries, white chocolate chips, and walnuts or pecans. They are always a hit. |
This sounds absolutely delicious and my younger child would appreciate non-chocolate options because he doesn't even like chocolate. We always make and also receive sugar cookies and chocolate chip so something different and special to you would be a treat
