Posted this in health but actually seems like a midlife exclusive thing

Over the past year, when I wipe, at ovulation, some stringy brown nastiness accompanies it. I got an ultrasound and CT scan done and it was clean.
Now I am wondering if there is a hormonal or thyroid concern. Or if it's midlife aging. If you have had this - what was it? Is this common? Most of my friends take Mirena so they do not know!

Are you talking about blood or poop?

Yes. I had this. It’s just discharge. Harmless.

Spotting during ovulation is normal. Get help for your anxiety.

Anyone else?

Stringy - because of ovulation your mucus thickens. In the old days that's how they taught you to watch your fertility.

Brown - some intermittent spotting, not uncommon.

Definitely not just a midlife thing.

Why does this only happen some cycles and with cramping?

Dark blood with mucus is fine, fresh isn't. Do you see any feces while wiping vagina?

How old are you? Just curious if you are in peri menopause. It sounds like older blood that’s a bit dried, mixed with mucous. Not a big deal most likely. Thyroid does not impact that as far as I am aware, I have hypothyroidism but that’s never impacted my period like that.

My periods usually start with something similar, and did when I was younger too.

But because I'm >50, they might come every 21 to 50 days and may last four days to 15 days. It's always a fun surprise.

Why is that nasty?

Spotting is normal during ovulation. I didn’t get it early in life, now notice it in peri. Not a big deal.
