| I'm considering moving my family to Loudon County. Perhaps Leesburg, but also open to other cities. What is this area like for black people? Is there much racism? |
| It’s like any other suburban community in this area. |
|
Loudon County is in Tennessee. It’s probably hostile to black people.
Loudoun County, Virginia has a decent amount of diversity and a black person would feel welcome there. |

| Both the chairman and vice chairman of the board of supervisors are black. |

It depends on where in Loudoun. The farther out, the whiter it gets, and some communities, like Ashburn, have a large Indian immigrant population.
|
| Go spend a weekend out there before moving there. I don't think it would win any awards for diversity. |
I was curious so I looked it up and the black population in Arlington is 9.1% and Fairfax is 9.8% so Loudoun is low at 7.6% but not crazy out of line with the rest of northern Virginia. |
| Try Alexandria. Very diverse. |
Yea, but then you are in Alexandria

There aren’t many black people in Loudoun to be honest. Although two board members and the board chair are black so it’s not like the voters are opposed to having black people represent them.
Loudoun is mostly white with a sizeable south Asian minority. There’s a cluster of hispanics in Leesburg and Sterling Park but thats it. It just isn’t as diverse as Fairfax. My family just bought new from Van Metre at Meadowbrook Farm in Leesburg and I’d say our neighborhood is 75%-80% white. |

I mean, KKK flyers were circulating in the last two years. I wish I was joking. https://www.loudountimes.com/news/cops_and_courts/klan-again-targets-loudoun-with-racist-flyers/article_bca1fdf8-9846-11ed-8771-c3d7229cfbd8.html |
This. Our neighborhood in Ashburn had one black family and I don't recall many kids at the schools who were black. Frankly, we had a few racist neighbors. The elections, first Obama and then Trump, brought out the worst in them. I think it depends on where you are in the county, but don't expect much. |
| We are a mixed race family and I could never imagine living in a place called Leesburg. Never. |
