Yes, this is terrifying.
And I'm not victim blaming - this is terrible, and this child did nothing wrong. But if you're hoping to avoid this situation - my mom always taught me to say "my mom's in the shower" when I was home alone (if someone called, etc). So I recommend that. |
| That is a very clear image. No way someone doesn’t see it and know who he is. |

Charles Allen is having a safety walk today at 6 pm: https://www.charlesallenward6.com/ward_6_update_10_20_2023
Barracks Row Community Walk and Talk Next Wednesday I'll be joining ANC 6B Commissioners D'Andrea and Sobelsohn and MPD's First District Officers for a Barracks Row Community Walk and Talk to discuss challenges and solutions for the neighborhood. We'll be meeting at 8th and Pennsylvania Ave SE on October 25 at 6pm - I encourage neighbors to come join us. |

I was always taught and passed onto my kids:
1) don’t answer the door if you we weren’t expecting someone and you’re home alone 2) never ever tell someone your parents aren’t home 3) if you do have to open the door - say a pizza is being delivered - as you get close to the door, shout something like “hey mom/dad, someone’s at the door” before answering it and then say they are busy |
In all fairness to this kid, I suspect if he hadn't answered the suspect would have tried to break in anyway because he would have thought no one was there. |

Poor kid!
Conundrum for Allen...Do I care about child victims or "child" criminals more? This guy might be 26 or under! |
Probably so. |
| Not even dark out! |
DC Justice Lab priorities are clear, so... |
It’s so obvious how he’s spitting thru gritted teeth whenever he has to acknowledge rampant crime. |
| I can’t see the link, can someone reshare it please? |
| Have they arrested the parents yet? |
Charles Allen is infuriating. I want a mea culpa from him and an explicit promise to work on crime. |
I called his Office about a child who was home with their mom and raped during a home invasion. Actions that don't evoke cries for early release consideration for the perpetrator in a normal person. |
