SQUASH

Very difficult to find good squash training in northern Virginia area. The guy that runs McLean Racquet and Fitness and McLean Sport and Health has been scamming families for years (double charging, over charging, always the hard press to buy thousands of dollars worth of “packages”) Does any one know anything about Squash on Fire? I never considered driving from Northern Virginia to DC for a Squash… However, we are now because the guy in McLean is taking advantage of all these families

We are in the same boat. Sadly I think it’s the lesser of 2 evils. The squash on fire guy seems nice when he’s trying to get you to sign up. Once you’re in, he’s completely two faced and has a nasty side. I’ve seen him make kids cry multiple times, yells at parents, etc. He also promises a lot and then changes instructors, cancels at the last minute, frequently has things start late (but finish on time and these are pricey enough lessons that losing 15 minutes is annoying), etc. St James was our solution but now it’s part of squash on fire and is a disaster, too. Please post if you find other options. I would have said the Arlington Y but it’s about to close for renovation.

Unfortunately there are very few other options:

- St James
- Squash on Fire
- Chevy Chase Athletic Club ( Connie B)

All 3 are not easy to get to from McLean in the e afternoons on weekdays

Is that the guy who looks like Rod Stewart? He’s been nice the few times we’ve been to SoF. Didn’t realize he has a nasty side

Connie B at Chevy Chase Athletic Club is a great coach. Positive, insightful, encouraging for my DD. I highly recommend her. Can’t speak to the club’s financial practices, but she is awesome.
