Question about grades in synergy

Anonymous
When I look at grades in Synergy, the percentage at the bottom doesn't seem to match what you'd get if you add up all the scores and divide by the possible points. For example, my child would have a 91% in biology if I added up his points and divided by the possible number of points, but it says 83.3% at the bottom. I've noticed that with other classes and with my other child. I'm guessing this has to do with different assignments having different weights, but how do we find that out?

The column Assignment Type should indicate either All Tasks/Assessments or Practice/Preparation. The latter are usually only weighted 10% of the grade.

Your suspicion that there is weighting is right. Practice/Prep is 10% and All Tasks/Assessments are 90% of the grade.

Also, practice prep is usually graded for completion, not correctness. So 10/10 on practice/prep doesn't mean they got all the answers right, just that they got it done on time and completed the work.

Yes, this year it seems tests are weighted more like 90%, last year when DS were in 6th assignment were weighted 90%. I dunno if it was the classes are more advanced(like language 2 vs 1) or it’s a systematic change.
