Public health sciences major

My child is thinking of majoring in public health sciences. Are there lucrative careers with this major? What are the salaries like?

No. It’s quite poorly paid especially without a graduate degree.

Only lucrative if you help someone design a bio weapon to blackmail the world governments.

There are informative threads about this topic (public health majors/careers) on the College forum.

You can make decent money, but no one is motivated to enter this field for money.

Try to respect (and take pride in) your kid’s values.

There's no money and, nowadays, everyone hates you and devalues your work.

I work in public health and am a fed. My agency employs many public health folks with different backgrounds (MPH, DVM, PhD, MD). It's a satisfying career. I'll never be rich but am happy with my job (benefits, security, work-life balance). As with any degree choice, there are the "obvious" career paths and those that are less so. It is what you make of it.
