I have a day to myself and would love a spa day alone. So I’m looking for somewhere I can get a massage and maybe a facial but also also could use a sauna, steam, relaxation room, etc. bonus points if I could order lunch!
Don’t care so much about cost, but doesn’t need to be the four seasons or salamander. |

Spaworld would be my pick. I was nervous about their clothing policy but once I got used to it, I had one of the most relaxing days ever.
Google korean spas or read reviews to understand what I mean. |
Spaworld! +2 |
Op here - is this something I would feel ok doing alone?? |
I personally think its a weird vibe and a little creepy. It doesnt have that luxury spa feeling most of us seek. |
| So you have to be nude there? |
| I think its weird that people bring children there. |
| Woodhouse |
Second PP: definitely! The water areas are separated by gender and there are attendants everywhere. There’s also a nice cafe for lunch. You can add on massage, etc and there are a bunch of immersive “caves” with different stones and at different temperatures for you to rest in. It’s a gem of the DC area IMO. I’m no longer in the area full time but will be in December and am looking forward to going to Spa World. Enjoy! |
So you have to be nude in the same gender pools? I read that children of the same gender are also allowed with parents. Are they in the spa/pool area too? |
Yes I have. It is totally non-sexual and feels very safe (to me). Kids have been with their mom a time or two but I didn’t really notice. Everyone is just kind or doing their own thing. I think it’s nice. Also check Groupon, they almost always have a deal. |
If a restaurant is handing out menus, or if a spa is on Groupon... thank you, next. |
PP here, I prefer going alone. Take a magazine with you. The nude areas are separated by gender. There are co-ed areas where you wear clothing given to you by the spa. It’s hard to find spas with lounges designed to hang out after services. Spaworld actually encourages it. You get into a very slow, relaxed mode. As for the food, it’s traditional in these types of spas to have a restaurant, again because people are encouraged to linger and slow down for 1/2 a day or more. |
That’s a very provincial take on spa world. |
Def Woodhouse in North Bethesda. You can order from Seasons 52. |
