Xyzal & Azelastine spray weight gain?

Anonymous
I was put on both Levocetirizine 5mg tablet (aka Xyzal) and Azelastine 0.1% spray for my allergies 2 weeks ago and quickly put on 5 pounds. My weight never changes so this is strange for me. These were possibly making me hungrier. It seems weight gain and hunger can be rare side effects. Back to Nasacort. Any one else experience this?

Are you eating/drinking afterward to mask the nasty taste?

Same issue gained about 5 pounds.

You’ve introduced new stimuli to your body and that affects processes . It is probably water weight; my own weight does this if I ever add a new med or supplement. As soon as I stop, the water weight goes away.

Yes, same experience on xyzal

I have been on tons of antihistamines for my whole adult life and never experienced weight gain. If you delve into it, the reason people gain weight is it can increase your appetite. Keep eating as you always have and you shouldn’t gain weight.

That is so crazy! I use both of these and have for a few years! I have out in weight during that time, for various other identifiable reasons, but had no idea these meds could contribute!!!

I’m on both of those and have been for several years. No change in weight.

It’s probably mostly water weight. You’d have to eat an extra 17,500 calories to gain 5 lbs in 2 weeks. Definitely something you would notice.

I’ve been on them for years with no weight gain.
