Buying A New Car - Flexible On Honda, Subaru, Hundai, Or Maybe VW

Anonymous

Has anyone contacted dealerships across the U.S. for price comparisons? Another thread mentioned you can buy a vehicle anywhere in the U.S. and have it shipped to you. I'm interested in doing that if I can save a few thousand $$.

How do you do that - do you send emails to LCOA dealerships or is there some other method to get price quotes? I purchased my last vehicle locally but I'd like to see if I can get a better price somewhere else.

Thank you for your input.

Any money you save will be negated by shipping costs. Even if they say it’s free, it’s not free.

I drove to a location where I had family and purchased about 400 miles away from DC
because it was where they had the model in stock.
It was about 1K cheaper - but I did not have hotel costs etc.

You also must consider the hassle of titling and tagging the vehicle yourself if it is not in the immediate area.

Do NOT buy a VW if there’s any chance at all you’ll keep it past the warranty period.

Seriously - DON’T do it.
