We have been ending up with grit in our "clean" dishes. It's the consistency of sand. We've tried many things -- washing on empty with vinegar, thoroughly cleaning before washing, switching detergents, cleaning drain, cleaning out water sprayers inside dishwasher. We cannot figure out where it is coming from!
Any ideas/experience? |
| It's definitely coming from the filter not being clean. |
| It's actually not. We've cleaned it many times |
| how about replacing the water tube? sounds like you have limescale built up - vinegar alone will not break that down in a cycle. |
| We had this and the only thing that solved it long term was getting a new dishwasher. |
Same. |
| If it's limestone, try lemishine in every load. It'll dissolve it over time. |
| Cheap detergent. Buy brand not generic. Made a huge difference. |
| Try Glisten Dishwasher Cleaner. Can buy from Walmart and other places. If you have a lot of build-up, it might need more than one cleaning cycle. We run a cleaning cycle using this every other month to avoid calcium/lime buildup from the hard water in this area. We have public water, btw, not a well. |
| I would check the dishwasher drain hose. It may not be looped properly under the sink and could be letting debris drain back in. |
| Does rinse aid help? |
This is what has helped us. |
