I have an 8 year old boy who is very interested in trying diving. We live in DC. Does anyone have any recommendations?

I'm not sure what is available in DC, but we've taken classes with Alexandria dive club: https://www.alexandriadiveclub.com/

Depending where in DC you live there is also Montgomery Dive Club.

The person who runs Montgomery Dive Club (now Metro Area Dive Club) also runs Alexandria Dive Club, but you do need to sign up for your particular location. Our kid dove at both b/4 Tim took over the new MDC, and some of the instructors overlap. It is easier to get into classes at ADC than KSAC (the closest location to DC). I have heard that there is a new facility in Arlington near Memorial Bridge that teaches diving, but I don't know anything about it. Might be a good option for a beginning. KSAC is going to be renovated in the near future and I don't know whether it will be open past December. In that case, you will be driving either to Germantown, Alexandria, or Dominion Dive Club. If you have to drive, then my personal favorite of all of the pools is Alexandria, simply b/c it's a smaller setting and my kid finds it homey. (It's a smaller coaching staff so you know who will be there before you sign up.) My kid loves diving and adores Tim. He's very approachable. if you have any questions, you should reach out to him and explain what you want to do and he can offer suggestions.

Arlington only offers dive classes through the rec program. They are nearly impossible to get into (something like 7 spots and a handful of times). We were #40 on the waitlist this session.
