| Are some people just not made for second day curls? I've tried before with no success. I'm having a particularly good hair day and thought I would try again. Pineappleing just leave the crown area frizzy in the morning. Silk pillowcases did nothing and felt uncomfortable. Any tips? |

I have super fine, thin, straight hair. It's hard to curl at all and if I do curl it, the style is gone by nighttime.
Just got a short haircut (chin-length) and the stylist used dry texture spray (she used Bumble & Bumble, I use Oribe) before and after curling. It gives so much volume and the curls last overnight! Kind of life-changing. I had to get used to my hair feeling a bit crunchy but it's totally worth it. |

A few tips:
-Rub in a little bit of hair oil before going to bed. -Silk pillowcases never really work. After putting up the pineapple, put on a silk bonnet or a “buff” ( https://www.amazon.com/BUFF-Standard-CoolNet-Multifunctional-Headband/dp/B098Q55Q5B/ref=mp_s_a_1_5?adgrpid=56802110100&hvadid=617002358154&hvdev=m&hvlocphy=9007535&hvnetw=g&hvqmt=e&hvrand=6727322292919040136&hvtargid=kwd-367415867942&hydadcr=9878_13604447&keywords=buff+hair+wrap&qid=1697502830&sr=8-5 ) -Undo the pineapple in the morning and just let it fall naturally. Give it 10 minutes before doing anything to it. -If there are parts that need some sprucing up, use a misting sprayer. Gently comb through and add a touch of mousse or foam. Cup the ends and squeeze gently towards your scalp. -Use a pick, never a brush, to fluff up your curls. |

Some nights I do a very loose messy bun on the very top of my head right as I get into bed. Other nights, I do nothing.
In the morning I shake out my hair and decide if I leave it be; should spritz with a tiny bit of water; or spritz with a more generous amount of water and lightly scrunch in a dollop of Aveda’s curl prep, which is my go-to product for 2nd curl. |
| Honestly this is why I wear my hair straight most days. I’ve never successfully gotten second day curls to look even halfway decent on my hair. Second day and third day blowout looks amazing with maybe a 2 minute touch-up. |
My 2b curls never look good the next day

It depends on your tolerance for imperfections and frizz. Now that I’ve let go of needing perfectly defined waves/curls I can go a week without washing and I love the way it looks every day. I add hydration wet it a little bit and scrunch some more wave back in each morning and work in a pump of hair oil.
A good haircut also helps. I have a shag now that looks great when my hair is at its curliest and when curls have mostly fallen out. |
| My thin, fine hair is curly now that I’m in my 40’s. It’s okay the first day but the only way I can get a second day is to get it wet. But it dries faster than a full shower. I just wet it, scrunch it and let it dry again. |
| My curls are finicky and just don't work second day. I will sometimes mist really well with a fine water mister and just make it work with a little extra product and gentle scrunching, but if I want to look my best, I take a quick shower and start from scratch. |
| I can't tell from your post, do you have naturally curly hair or are you curling your hair with a hot tool? |
Natural. 2C on a good day when I put in effort (and gel). |
I guess low tolerance for imperfections. I wear a ponytail often if I'm not putting in the effort to scrunch nicely. |

OP here, one of the reasons I ask is so I can have a good hair day in the early morning when needed for an event, without giving a crazy amount of time to dry. Diffusers and I don't get along.
So I need a solution when it needs to be nice and dry by 9 am or earlier. |

Yeah my curls look wild on day 2. I typically use a straightening iron and make the top smoother. I also have 2C curls. My curls are like ringlets but my top is straighter.
I do a lot of buns and gibson rolls. When I straighten my hair and do a good blow out, I can get 5 days out of it. I don't have greasy hair though. |

I want to try a silk bonnet for my daughter (8). But the ones I've seen on Amazon are all not actually made of silk? That's fine? Can anyone recommend a specific one?
