Another mentally ill spouse post

If your spouse struggles with chronic mental illness, do you feel like there is room in the relationship for your needs?

I don’t mean for you to solve your needs on your own or meet your needs with independent things, I mean specifically within your partnership with your spouse to discuss and problem solve meeting your needs together.

No. I expect nothing but anger and angst from my mentally ill spouse. Thank goodness they have a job and work. It’s be totally over if that ceases.

No. I think that is too difficult. I just wanted to not have to obsess about it and worry about the next crazy thing that would happen. I felt my life was just becoming caretaker to him. One week it was his car accident with the kids. Another it was stealing money. Another it was bringing people into the home for drugs. We tried talking through issues, but it was just words to appease. Nothing real or lasting.
