Yes, Stanley Alves is probably the best overall trainer for youth in the entire DMV area. Incredibly positive, hands on, and an overall great influence for kids. If you're available and you want high level competition during winter break, highly recommend.

Never heard of either of these coaches. Have they ever coached teams before?

They are both current / former pros who have more training experience than coaching - which Stanley also does. It's a 4 day camp - you're not joining a team. This is one of the better trainers you will find. My son works with him and loves it. He has a group of 25 or so 2009-12 MLS Next and ECNL players that he trains 3 days a week. Everyone says it's more valuable than their club practices.

“Invite only” but open registration

You cannot discriminate against players for camps like this. That's why you will see almost all summer camps put a disclaimer at the bottom that reads "limited by numbers and age only...not skill level". However, trainers reserve the right outside of camps to have a selection process for their regular group of trainees. And, they do screen the levels by having them join the group and making an offer to join or not. This helps maintain the high level and value for the core clientele.

For the specific winter camp it clearly says invitation only:

“Join us for an amazing week of camp at the Nike Soccer Camp with Champions Premier and Next Step Training in Leesburg, VA. Team up with Camp Directors Stanley Alves and Nicholas Woodruff for the ultimate soccer training camp! Next Step Training and Champions Premier were founded in order to provide a unique competitive experience for the BEST local kids in their area. The combination of high-level coaching, invite-only environments“

So the previous post noting they say invite only but have open registration was a valid point

I'm not a lawyer, but I think "invite-only environment" can be read as "it feels like it's invite-only."

If the nuance of a couple of words in a marketing pitch have you fretting, I'm guessing your kid won't be the toughest one at camp.

What? I was just saying it's not really invite only.

Probably not since it’s open registration
