DCC choice rule change?

So I had always heard, and thought it had been repeated in recent info sessions, that as long as you rank your home school #1 or #2 then you are guaranteed a spot there. But we just got a notice in the mail from MCPS confirming our home school assignment (Einstein), and it says "If you would like [child] to attend their base school, you must enter Einstein as 1st choice." Has this rule changed?

If you rank another school #1 and the home school #2, you are guaranteed one of those two schools. If you rank the home school #1, you are guaranteed the home school.

Is this in writing somewhere? Because the letter doesn’t say that.

I don’t understand what you’re asking. How can they guarantee Einstein for you if you put a different school for #1? Because if there is room and you get a spot, you will be given #1. They can’t grant you spots at two schools at once.

I think they mean that you have to fill out the choice form, even if you want your child to attend their home school.

It's a Google form that has to be completed via the student's account. Central office should email you the link.

Actually they announced that this year you don’t have to be logged in as the student.
