| Would people who are into bourbon ever order it with (Diet) Coke? Like do they ever order a Maker's Mark, Woodford Reserve, or Buffalo Trace & (Diet) Coke or is that not really a thing amongst the aficionados? I think even on the rocks is sort of a faux pas—neat is the proper way, right?—so I am assuming with (Diet) Coke is like sacrilege. Just curious. Thanks! |
I know those bourbons I listed are really mainstream but I'm asking as if you're out with a group at an average pub or at someone's home who probably doesn't stock obscure more expensive stuff. I also figure you never mix the more expensive hard to find bourbon while maybe the $30 bottle stuff is fine to mix? |

No. We would not mix good bourbon with diet coke, which is shit on its own. We probably wouldn't dilute good bourbon with any soda
Are you hosting a gathering OP? If so, then I guess have a few sodas on hand. but otherwise, no |
| I’d order Jack or crown royal and Diet Coke |
| I don't mix bourbon with anything. |
| I suppose some people like a bourbon and Coke. Some like bourbon with ice. Or bourbon and branch. To each her own. But I take it straight as do most bourbon drinkers I know. Good to have options available if you are hosting. Have fun! |
You walk around a party or pub with 1oz or 2oz of neat bourbon...in a rocks glass? That seems like such a insignificant amount of liquid to walk around the room with, if that makes sense. |
Is Jack & Coke still a thing? I know it was a popular drink in the 90s. Same for Captain & Coke. But tastes have evolved in 30 years, I assume. |
If you tip, barkeepers don't care |
NP. I do. I drink it neat. I sip it not gulp it down. |
| The bourbons you listed are decent and I wouldn’t mix them. Like PP mentioned people mix Jack, Jim, Crown royal… |
I hear what you’re saying but yes, that’s what I do. |
|
I like ice. Bourbon, rocks.
That said there’s nothing wrong with a mixed drink if that’s your thing. I do it sometimes for the caffeine. But yeah I would mix anything better than Makers/Bulleit level. Kind of a waste to do so. |
| Rail or Jim Beam with diet coke. |
No, that doesn’t make sense. What are you getting at? |
