| These “walks” are obviously going to get hijacked by the bike bros and will be about “traffic violence” when the majority of people in DC just want carjackings and murdered to go back down. |
|
Good to hear, but that seems like an odd choice for Ward 1 - literally on the border with her ward and two blocks from Ward 5. Surprised she wouldn’t choose Colombia Heights. Perhaps because you can’t pop into the CVS to get a cold drink if it is hot during the walk. |
Both Ward 1 and 2 walks are in Shaw. 7th & O and 6th & T. |
| Anyone go? |
There was a robbery in the 4200 block of Connecticut @ 9am per MPD alert, shortly before the walk started, so maybe that was addressed? Or the shooting at Brandywine recently with the shooter running across Forest Hills playground? |
That explains the small crowd of people standing around in Edgewood today. Definitely looked more like bike bros than fellow community members
|
| Hopefully she will have evening and/or weekend events too, could not go today due to work. |
| Nice way to kick off a mayoral campaign |
| I'd like to hear more about this melee. That whole block has gone to hell over the past ten years. From the long term vacant properties that the city promotes with their weird tax breaks, to the general feel of it. I was visiting a relative in Colorado who lives in a 'town' in Denver... We have many neighborhoods in DC with distinct identities that could be comparable. In her "town", it looks maintained and charming, and they also routinely have community events such as parades, races, live music nights on the main street with bandstands, businesses that interact with the community doing social good -- rather than the community abusing the businesses. I mean, what's wrong with this picture? This sucks. |
