this may be off-topic... need a realtor recommendation

Anonymous
I couldn't figure out where else to post this but since I would like to be in a good MoCo school, this seemed to make some some sense. Anyway, I would love a recommendation for a realtor who is not an idiot in the silver spring/bethesda/chevy chase area.
We don't have oodles to spend so I don't need a realtor that deals with mansions, just someone who can help us find a good deal in a good school district (thinking the part of silver spring near EW higway).
Thanks!!

My husband is a realtor with Long and Foster...focusing in the Bethesda, Chevy Chase, Silver Spring area...also, I was a MCPS teacher so I can help answer questions about schools. While I am biased, I highly recommend my husband because of his knowledge of the area (we also live in Chevy Chase) and passion about real estate. Feel free to email him at SamS@LnF.com or you can email me first at LSTutors@hotmail.com and then I can put you directly in touch with him.

We loved Barbara Ciment, who we used for both selling and buying years ago.

Liz Brent is also terrific and knows Silver Spring inside-out.

I do'nt think a realtor can legally tell you what schools or good or bad. She could tell you which ones are more in demand, but she has to be careful.

Shelia Leifer of Long and Foster in Bethesda KNOWS Chevy Chase and Bethesda. 13 years ago she helped DH and me find the house in the Town of Chevy Chase that we have lived in since. The key was that she was well-connected and was able to get us into a house a day before the first open house and thus we were able to out the house under contract before the open house even took place. Shelia Leifer has a real love for these neighborhoods and she now lives in Chevy Chase. Lovely to work with. I highly recommend her.

Tamara Kucik at WC & AN Miller (whichi s owned by Long & Foster). She lives ina dna knows Silver Spring like the back of her hand...plus she's pretty cool.

I have never personally worked with Sheila Leifer but heard some hair raising stories about her. Several people have described her to me as being a very difficult person. Again, I've never met her, but that's the word on the street.

I highly recommend Scott Matejik of Stuart and Maury. He specializes in the Bethesda/ Silver Spring / Kensington area. He grew up in Bethesda so knows the area very well. I used him to find my modest home in Bethesda, and we've also used him to sell a house in Silver Spring. He came highly recommended from people at work (who all live in Silver Spring), many of whom were first-time home buyers. He's very low key and a genuinely nice, honest, helpful guy.

I think it is very location specific. I wouldn't use a Bethesda realtor for Silver Spring (well, since "Bethesda" is so amorphous perhaps I should say I'd be careful about using a "Bethesda" realtor for SS).

I would recommend Liz Brent (especially in the downtown area of Silver Spring).

We used Brad Rozansky of Long and Foster in Bethesda. He knows Bethesda inside out.
