New Lexus TX - 3 row for the DCUM market

Meh. Completely uninspiring styling. Looks dated AF already. Reminds me of a 20-teen-something Dodge Durango.

And almost guaranteed to be boringly reliable.

As far as (legit) three row SUV's go, I think it looks nice. But Lexus has screwed themselves because the upper level trim models of the TX with the higher horsepower, only seat SIX! as the third row only has two seat belts. If I am going to get such a large yet still mid-size SUV than I would expect being able to carpool with my kids teamates etc. It's basically an SUV for those who don't want a minivan, but they didn't even get that right by making the third row a two seater. At least the cheaper Toyota Grand Highlander with the same MAX Hybrid engine can fit 3 in the third row.

Most car experts are already calling the Mazda CX90 and Lexus TX Palisade and Telluride killers. As great as the Telluride and Palisade are, they now that to play catch up with the newer hybrid engines putting out 340+hp, with bigger third row seating etc... But I still think the Palisade and Telluride are far better bang for your buck

But if you have teens, you're not sticking 3 in a 3rd row unless you're going for the massive SUVs (eg, Chevy Suburban). I prefer the two seats in the 3rd row that can fit actual teenagers or (smaller) adults.

Also, what are you talking about "only seating 6"? The 2nd row comes standard with 3 seats. It's a 7 person vehicle.

The second row is only 3 across on the cheaper base engine models. If you want the version with any oomph you cant get the bench middle

CX90 is WAY smaller than Palisade/Telluride. Not comfortable for tall drivers either. Its stylish and I really wanted to like it, but totally impractical as a 7 seater car unless you are a family of short people.

Agree. We are considering the Palisade and the new Toyota Grand Highlander - we ruled out the CX90 after seeing it at the dealership. I like the look AND PRICE of the Palisade better, but the Grand Highlander's added space and milage is appealing. Neither is 'exciting to drive' IMO, but this is more of a necessary tool than something we are buying for spirited driving fun.

I think it makes sense from a “lineup” perspective.

I own 6 Lexus - two RX, two GX, and two LX.

The RX is somewhat small and so is the GX.

The LX is a nice but the cost is prohibitive for most.

The Highlander has gotten bigger over the years - it doesn’t have the truck on frame attributes of the GX and LX but it is now a decent size.

I think the TX will sell well.

I can definitely understand owning a Lexus. Even TWO of them, if they’re sufficiently different. But why SIX of them FFS???

Don’t you have any desire to own something….. fun?
