We sent 7 out for testing and we got back 3 normal, 1 mosaic and 3 aneuploid. The euploid's are 2 boys, 1 girl.
We are happy and thrilled we got anything tbh. 37, donor sperm, PCOS. First round of IVF. But overwhelmingly sad about just 1 girl. We were really hopeful for a girl and there are a lot of reasons both on my end and DH that we had that preference. We use progyny for insurance and haven't had to pay for anything so far. We have 1 more cycle before our benefit is up and that can be either 4 transfers or 1 transfer + 1 freeze IVF cycle (including meds and pgt) at no cost to us. My first thought is to transfer the girls and then use the rest of the insurance benefits for another IVF cycle to bank embryos. And go from there. But just torn on what to do. At the same time grateful because I know we could have had way worse results |

Do you want more than one child?
If you would be happy with one daughter then I would transfer the girl and see what happens! If you are successful, wonderful! After parenting your daughter together, you may also come to a deeper understanding about how it would be to have a boy. I understand the donor situation makes it sensitive for your husband. Hoping all the best for your family! |

Hi OP, out of curiosity, how many mature eggs did you get this round?
I’m just wondering how many eggs it took for you to get 3 PGS normal embryos? (I know everyone is different! I’ve just been thinking about the steep fall-off rate as I contemplate starting IVF with my previously frozen eggs.) |
Hi They retrieved 28 eggs, however I have PCOS and I'm 37. We went from 28 eggs retrieved to 13 fertilized on day 1, 4 late "slow pokes", that gave us 7 blasts and then 3 pgt normal, and 1 mosaic after testing. 2 graded excellent and 1 graded good I hope that helps. The attrition was wild. While I'm so grateful for our #s and I know it's better than average at the end of the day it was still a hard drop off. Our plan right now is to transfer our girl and then assess. Do another ER if needed. |
Thank you! Yes after talking to our RE we feel good about m moving forward with the our first transfer and then hope for the best. Only because of our insurance and not having any oop costs we would do one more ER if she doesn't stick. I just feel like how could we not try once more, knowing that batch could all come back boys. I still feel like we try and if not then we will pick the best graded one and love them so much. |
Thanks for sharing. It’s all so stressful! Fingers crossed for you! |
