Looking for a tried and true recipe for sweet, moist, cakey cornbread like the type they sell at BlackSalt. Thanks!
Trader Joe's mix. Seriously.
My mother makes the best cornbread! I grew up in the South so I feel like I know my cornbread! She always has used the recipe on the back of the cornmeal plus a heavy iron skillet preheated with oil. We have never liked a sweet cornbread but if you add a couple of tsp of sugar you will get the sweetness.
Actually, I think I'm looking for corn cake. I tried a cornbread recipe this morning and realized that BlackSalt must use mostly corn flour, not cornmeal.
I use maple syrup in mine. So delicious and moist!
I was taught by a Southerner and her family secret was Jiffy Mix and a can of creamed corn. I make this all the time and people love it.
