Alexandria city council to consider removing ban on panhandling

What a stupid consideration. I don't mind buskers and street performers who provide entertainment, but there is no redeeming benefit to panhandling.

The City Council is so worthless. The City has plenty of really problems they could pick to work on but they are hard and no one wants to do hard work.

No, you are wrong. Cities can certainly limit panhandling by limiting where it is allowed. Supreme Court has ok’d this as a reasonable limit.

No, it is not illegal to cross the street outside a designated (I'm assuming you mean painted?) crosswalk. Though I agree that this Virginia statute is trash. I would like to see a "When driving, drivers shall not carelessly or maliciously interfere with the orderly passage of pedestrians." law, although that would require upending the whole road system.

A. When crossing highways, pedestrians shall not carelessly or maliciously interfere with the orderly passage of vehicles. They shall cross, wherever possible, only at intersections or marked crosswalks. This is Alexandria. They will all be enthusiastically be re-elected. Alexandria is a well known joke in Richmond (Ds and Rs laugh at us) and if you ever run into other Dem mayors, be sure to ask them what they think of Wilson.
