2 XL Twin comforters on King bed for different temps?

Anonymous
My partner and I like very different temperatures when we sleep. I like a warm, heavy comforter all year round, he likes just a sheet or quilt. We're finally getting a king bed and my solution is to get two separate twin XL comforters - a warm, heavy one for me, and a very light one for him. Has anyone tried this? Does this work? My master plan is to lay a king-sized quilt or coverlet on top of the entire bed for a more seamless look. Thoughts?

My MIL swears by this- says it saved her marriage. I don't feel the need for it, but I've slept in that set-up and it works well. Not sure about sizes though.

I have a very light silk duvet for the whole king bed and then I put a down throw under it on my side. No blanket. The width of two twin comforters I think will be too much.

Unless they're tied together, you'll either have a puddle of comforter between you or they'll slide off during the night.

nope.

We have two separate covers. I also use a weighted blanket. DH does not. They don't fall off at all, nor do they end up bunched up in the middle. It works great for us.

We also got a split king mattress.

Those two things combined (and my ear plugs) have allowed me to sleep so much better in the 23 years we've been together.

I sleep under a twin blanket (because why bother with a blanket-weight i.e. light comforter when a simple blanket will do?) and my wife sleeps under heavier comforters that are variously twin-size or full-queen-size, sharing a king bed. Whatever the geometry, we sleep better than we would under a single king comforter. Laundry is easier too.

We have two twin duvets on our king. I fold them in half, and we each take one side. We do share a flat sheet underneath the duvets, though.

Sure, why not?

Yes same the best. It may not look as nice but no more fighting for covers

It’s commonly done in Scandinavian countries.

We share a comforter, then i sleep with a huge heating pad (17” x 33”). Depending on how hot I want things to be, I’ll sleep on top of it, under it, with it draped across my back etc.

Any suggestions for how to tie them together?
