| Anyone have a student that debated between these two schools and factors that helped them make the choice? |

RPI > RIT
My kid had RPI on the list as a match/safety. Visited the school. Solid school and great programs especially for STEM areas. However location was not desirable and overall vibe was meh. |
| My kid is only a junior so hasn't applied anywhere yet, but based on visits liked RIT better than RPI. She felt the campus was more lively with more student groups. |
| Visited both 2 years ago (DC interested in comp sci) but ended up elsewhere. Impressed by both although not crazy about Troy. RIT was the nicer campus imo, large and attractive. Also impressed with the STEM labs at RIT. That said, I think RPI is the stronger school academically. |

DC loved RIT and did not like RPI at all. This is one area where looking at rankings and thinking they mean something is a good way to make a poor choice. Lots of complaints about RPI's junior year situation. I also do not think it is true to say RPI is better academically.
DC chose a different school, but really loved RIT. |
| Any other schools you would research in this same set…not MIT, but something attainable for a 4.3 1400 SAT. |
WPI for sure |

| Have to like co-op to choose RIT. |
| What’s co-op? |

It’s what people now call “interning”. |
