These are the last contenders. |
Great choices. I'd rank them:
Audrey Scarlett Lydia But I don't really think you can go wrong. |
Of these, I only like Lydia. Classic, elegant, not too common. |

Lydia or Audrey! |
Of these, Audrey is far and away my favorite, with Scarlett a very distance second and Lydia an even more distant 3rd. |
Audrey and Scarlett are too common now, I'd go with Lydia. |
I like all three. None are super popular, but of the three Audrey is the most common (in my bubble at least). I think Lydia is a beautiful name but I will always associate with the most annoying Bennet sister. Scarlett makes me think of Scarlett O'Hara...that that how you will. |
Love Lydia! (And I'm a Pride & Prejudice fan.) I've always liked Audrey, too. Scarlett is fine but could be a big name for a quieter girl to carry. |
Audrey or Lydia
Not Scarlett. It’s a shame, but there’s no getting around the connection to Gone with the Wind, which by the time your child is grown, will have zero chance of still being celebrated and appreciated. (Rightly so.) |
Audrey. |
I have a Lydia, and I love it because it isn’t all that common, yet it’s easily understandable. We have only met three other Lydias/Lidias—all adults—and my kid is five. All three of them loved meeting her and gushed over the name bond.
I like Audrey too, but not really Scarlett. |
There is something about the name Lydia that is off-putting to me. Like it doesn't sound right. I can't put my finger on it. |
Lydia favors cardigan sweater sets and won an award for her cursive writing in the third grade. She majors in English at Vassar and becomes a beloved community college English instructor, but her real passion is her hobby farm, where Lydia lives surrounded by ducks, goats, and a rescue pig.
Scarlett is a firecracker, the bravest kid on the playground, and the fastest swimmer in her age division. She captains the field hockey team at Sewanee and goes into investment banking. Her cottage in Decatur was recently featured in Architectural Digest. Scarlett did most of the reno work herself. Audrey is an elegant child, passionate about ballet and tea parties, who will grows too tall to become a professional ballerina. After a few years living in Europe, she will go to Teachers College to become a bilingual (French-English) speech language pathologist. Audrey's souffles never fail and her hosting skills are superb. |
Love this so much. Makes me want to be all three. |
