I appreciate that there may be some pearl clutching in response to this question. I absolutely appreciate that some people do not like more than one piercing per ear. I think that is great and everyone should do what makes them comfortable. I also appreciate that some people view multiple ear piercings as "trashy." I respect your opinion but do not share it. This post is not for you.
I am considering an 8th (!) ear piercing. I have 3 lobe piercings in each ear and a cartilage piercing in my left ear. Where should I get an 8th ear piercing? A second cartilage piercing in my left ear? Another piercing in my right for more balance? Maybe a tragus piercing in the left ear? For context, I am a big law lawyer and wear super teeny tiny stubs in my third lobe piercings. No one has ever commented on them but I love them (including how subtle they are). I am 0% worried about the piercing professionally because I'll likely wear a small stud in whatever I get done (due to personal preference). I'm also a mom in my 40s to the extent it matters. TIA for any helpful opinions! |
| I wouldn’t do the cartilage in the right ear - too matchy matchy. I think the tragus in either ear, for something different. |
|
What’s driving your desire for an 8th piercing at this stage of life?
No judgement. I have 5, but haven’t added any since college. |
|
I think you really are looking for reactions, OP, otherwise you wouldn't have phrased your question the way you did.
|
| No matchy. I’d go for an industrial bar piercing. |
|
Go for a conch or anti tragus in the ear without the cartilage piercing.
For what it's worth, I am 38 and have 3 lobe piercings in each ear and have strongly been considering more. |
| You are obsessed. Stop. |
|
I agree with tragus is something. With a 4th one on the right, you're basically at cartilage and it'll look matchy matchy but "off".
I did love love loved my industrial back in the day but it takes a really good piercer to get that right AND to make any adjustments if necessary. And not at all subtle. |
| I just got two cartilage piercings this year (I didn’t have any before). One is mid ear and one is towards the top, both on the same ear. Might be another option, although I think tragus looks great. It just seems really painful to me. |
| So ugly!!! There, I gave you the reaction you wanted. |
Agree. I have 7 piercings (8 at one time but the cartilage got infected so I took it out). I had that cartilage piercing on the same side as my 4 other regular lobe piercings. So I had 5 in one ear and 3 in the other. I’d go tragus on same side as cartilage. |
And you think OP is the one who wants attention? |
| I have 8 - 3 in each lobe, one cartilage on the left at the top of the ear and a daith piercing on the right. I think it looks balanced without being matchy. I am in my late 40s and have gotten the cartilage piercings in the last few years. I love them! I wear small gold earrings in all my piercings. I want to get maybe one more but can't decide. |
Love the pearl clutching on here I would do a flat helix piercing on the left or a conch piercing on the right. You could also do a snakebite piercing on the mid helix on the right with two dainty studs.

The pearl clutching is funny. Having multiple ear piercings is very in style right now. I work in a conservative industry and when I look around my office tons of ladies have multiple. |
