What does it look like? Do the quarter grades show up? DD is not doing well in a core class and is in quite a panic.

No quarter grades show up, only the semester grades.

Only semester grades

Only matters if she’s in 12th grade and applying ED to a college that wants first quarter grades. Otherwise, it’s just the semester grade.

So if a kid gets an A but it’s made up of a B in one semester and an A in the other, they see that info?

No, they only see the semester grade. This is why so many kids work hard to get a A first quarter and don’t care at all about second quarter because even if they get a B, it won’t matter.

Actually, I misunderstood since you’re talking about semester grades. Each semester is its own grade so if you a B one semester and and a one semester, both of those grades would show up but the quarter grades will not.

Do ED schools require a report of first quarter grades? (I haven't seen this to be the case but DS hasn't finished his application yet so I'm not sure)

Oh I’m confused then. This is probably a basic question but there are two semesters, yes? And we just had interims. Are the interims quarter grades? If not when does the quarter end? So each year there are 4 quarter grades that become two semester grades? Does that become a single year grade or not?

+1. For example:

Q1 B + Q2 A = S1 A
Q3 B + Q4 C = S2 B

Transcript would show both the S1 A and the S2 B.

An interim is half of a quarter. They don't mean anything. There are no single year grades.

No final grades? Only semester grades? What grade is used to calculate GPA?

And really quarters are called Marking Periods, so you may see them as MP1 etc. The first marking period ends on Nov. 1st. The second marking period (and first semester) ends on Jan. 29th.

That's right. Only semester grades, which are each used to calculate the GPA.
