Would you travel Avianca or Copa Airlines

Experiences? Thanks

Yes, I've flown Avianca and Copa, though it has been a while. No issues with either, and nothing really to report. Copa is a very busy airline, as it is often a Central/S Am connector line.

Funny you should ask. I'm a personal assistant to someone who travels to Colombia frequently. I just booked travel for him today on Avianca. Last month I booked him on Copa - for travel within Colombia. He has not had any issues with either, outside of their sometimes wonky websites, but that's my challenge not his.

From personal experience (but also due to routes) Copa , yes 100%

Avianca no- poor costumer service but mostly my reason for not traveling Avianca is that the route I take to South America has a VERY tight layover in Colombia and you have to go through a security checkpoint again between flights.

I thought if you connected via Panama City you didn't need to clear security for a second time.

Yes Copa but no for Avianca.

I’ve flown both. Copa is nicer.

Actually just scrapped a trip on Avianca for Christmas this year since they were having issues with the return flight. It was changing one a week, wildly, 7am then 11pm etc. so I asked for a refund today and even the agent told me that was for the best.

Oh god - we went to Peru a few years ago and had several internal flights with Avianca. Every one of those were disastrous - like several hours late or just cancelled, lost luggage, etc. Avoid at all costs.

I guess we got lucky, but we flew Avianca to Costa Rica over the summer and had no issues.

We've flown Copa several times with no issues

I've flown Copa to Chile, no "problems" but just kind of rude service. I am not Hispanic/native Spanish speaking and there was a very obvious difference in the way the flight attendants treated me vs. the way she treated other passengers seated nearby. I do speak some Spanish so it wasn't like I was expecting them to communicate with me in English.

I've flown Avianca to Nicaragua and Columbia and it was great both times.

^Colombia.
Yes, I know how to spell it correctly.

Yes to Copa.

No to Avianca. Broken seats, instant coffee, after getting my instant coffee (the only beverage service), I didn't see another FAjust generally disgusting. That was in their Business Class. They are the low cost low frill South American airline.

This is Copa not Avianca.

We took Avianca this summer from Bogota to Lima. The plane was brand new and left and arrived on time. The only annoying thing was you had to pay for everything - we didn't even get water for free. We were in the front of the plane so it was not a ticket thing.
