what bedtime for a 3 year old who won't nap?

What time are you putting your 3 year olds to bed if they are refusing their nap?

7:00-7:30

If no nap, no later than 7pm sharp. If he had a good nap then we'll push to 7:30.

It depends on how long the child will sleep at night. I start 12 hours from desired wake time and then adjust from there---shift bedtime a little earlier each night until I hit max sleeptime.

When my kids started dropping their naps, I was lucky if they made it through dinner without falling asleep. There was a month or two of bedtime being either 5:30 (no nap) or 10:30 (had a nap). And heaven forbid they get a 10 minute cat nap in the car! Then it was the worst of both where they were tired and irrational but would not go to bed. Bedtime didn’t seem to impact when they woke up in the morning.

Luckily, that stage doesn’t last very long. Good luck figuring out what works for your child and family!

This is completely dependent on how much night sleep they need. Every kid’s sleep needs are different, just like adults. How much night sleep does your child need to be rested (NOT how many hours do you as a parent want them to spend in their room)?

This depends on what time they wake up. They probably need at least 12-13 hours sleep overall.

No later than 6. We’d have daycare change our child into pjs, feed her in the ride home and put her straight to bed.

7pm for both of our kids.

7pm for both our 3yo and 5yo

I do 7:30 for my 3.5yo and she usually won’t actually fall asleep until 7:45 or 8. Usually up by 6am. But she’s always been on the lower end of sleep needs — when she naps she’s sometimes up until 9 or 9:30.

7:30 for my 3.5 yo DD. She dropped the nap awhile ago. That seems to work out well to get her enough sleep; she wakes up at 730 or 745 for daycare. Now it has been skewing earlier towards 730, because DS is up at 7 stomping around upstairs and making a ton of noise as he gets ready for school.

6:45pm.

That isn’t sad at all.
