Speed dating events - worthwhile?

I've been to a few...met one person who I dated for a couple months but nothing long-term. One advantage over the apps is that by meeting in person you can see right away if the spark is there (I've met plenty of people who seemed promising but there was no chemistry in person).

Go with a friend, consider it a fun night out with no expectations. At the least, you put yourself out there and small talk.
