| How does it end? |
I'm reading it right now and should be done in 3-4 days. I'll let you know! |
| Bump |
|
SPOILER:
She does. It’s a beautiful book but I’m pissed about the ending. |
She does what? Dies? |
|
DP but yes, she just dies a simple death.
Unlike the other PP I didn't think it was a beautiful book at all. I thought it was a slog. I think if you like reading poetry you'd like this book. It felt like a long poem and I hate poetry. |
| Thanks for saving us all the frustration! Sounds awful |
| I loved it. Best book I’ve read all year. Loved the ending. |
| Yes she died, but she also imagines an alternate life where she lives for a long spell in the wilds. The fact that she can see the world as beautiful as she is dying is part of the point |
| I thought it was overrated. |
|
I HATED the ending.
I don’t hate that she died. That seemed much more plausible than any other outcome given the length of the book. I hate that her death is preordained before she EVEN ESCAPES. It meant that every risk, chance, small victory, fish, egg— all of it was already futile, we just don’t know it yet. |
| I loved it. She dies. Weird, depressing, beautiful book, adn the first of Groff's books that I've liked. |
