Preschool and Daycare Discussion
|
DC was accepted in a new preschool. He is currently attending a different preschool, had a tough time adjusting at the beginning (that’s why I applied and signed the contract with the new school) but now is having a blast I am also very happy with the school /teachers and reluctant to leave. Has anyone had any chance getting out of a contract at this stage? It would be very difficult to pay the 2 tuitions; anyone has been in the situation? What did you end up doing?

Call the school. Explain the situation. Help them find a replacement.

| Read your contract. Both places we applied to had cancellation policies. They tended to charge you a month (i.e. if you give notice 9/1/10, you pay through 9/30/10) but that's not that crazy considering it's likely to be tough for them to find an immediate replacement for your kid. |
| While I have not done this before I do think it's all about finding a replacement. They have a budget which must cover teacher and director salaries, supplies, etc and once you sign a contract they are counting on that tuition money. If it's a popular school they probably have a waitlist and it's not uncommon for people to sign on in July or August. If there is no waitlist you could spread the word for them about an opening, though they will probably want to select the actual child themselves I assume. If they can fill the spot I would be shocked if they still expected you to pay tuition. Good luck!! |
