One kid loves penguin. I believe Baltimore aquarium has no penguin, and we went to Boston aquarium in summer for penguins. He has not seen any Emperor penguin yet, and he wants to see one. We are thinking Seattle, San Diego & Georgia for next year 1 week summer trip. I believe these places I mention have emperor penguins.
We also have to consider other kid friendly destinations to make it a week of fun. DH wants to do Seattle because he has never been to that city there before. I prefer Georgia because I hear it is kid friendly and many fun things to do. I have been to San Diego twice & DH have been to San Diego once before we have kids. Kids will be age 8 (boy that wants to see penguin) and age 5 (girl that wants to have fun but scared of many rides). |
| Montreal - city itself is magic and the penguin exhibit at the biodome is amazing. They said, San Diego IS very kid friendly. |
|
Georgia aquarium has African penguins.
Seattle Zoo has Humboldt penguins. Shedd Aquarium (Chicago) has rockhoppers and Marconi penguins. Empower penguins are huge. San Diego Seaworld is the only US place to see them. |
Montreal has King penguins not emperor penguins-but they also have 3 other species as well. |
| Pittsburgh zoo does |
| Montreal has Emperor penguins now: https://youtu.be/B4a4cNyeX-0 |
Not emperor though. Maryland Zoo in Baltimore also has penguins but not emperor. |
| The Maryland Zoo has penguins (but not emperor penguins). |
| Does the Pittsburgh aviary have them? We went and they had penguins but can’t remember what kind |
| The Pittsburgh Aviary has a penguin exhibit, but I don’t think they have the emperor… |
| i love this thread, collaboration on PENGUINS!! |
| st louis zoo has penguins. |
no emperor penguin though it seems. |
| We took my son to the BioDome in Montreal when he was 5 since he was a penguin fanatic. He loved it and it was a very nice habitat. He also loved visiting the penguins at the central park zoo even though those are smaller |
Despite the YouTubers label, I think those are King penguins, not Emperor penguins. They look very similar, but Kings are smaller. Might be close enough for OP's kid though. |
