National league usually means USYS. I wouldn’t say that those are no name clubs, they lost to SYC, and thee rest are Maryland clubs SAC is Columbia usually has decent

But also remember Baltimore Armour. By u13 that is actually SACs 2nd team. And the best SYC players go to VA Union and that’s 2nd tier. Between ECNL, GA, and ECNL-RL, there’s honestly no way to sugarcoat being at the bottom of EDP 2 as a larger club top team.

Alexandria has found themselves in a tough spot- they don't have ECNL or ECNL-regional (everyone else seems to) and they tried to have GA and got kicked out so now they are in a lower level league on the girls side and girls are not staying for this mediocre play.

It is sad because they have a big program at the younger ages but they missed the boat on opportunities for more competitive play and partnerships.

But you know, NCSL U13 girls Division 1 is probably where these girls belong if they are 0-4 in NL? I imagine Alexandria's girls higher aged teams would probably be fine playing NCSL as well - is Alex really that strong of a club on the girls side historically? Arlington's a strong club and other than their top Academy team, they have 6 U13 teams playing NCSL.

Alex has their 2nd team in NCSL Div 2 and look like they are getting clobbered so there's that.. I think maybe by stretching to play in new league requiring quite a bit of travel v. MD teams who are traditionally strong may not be wise, long-term. As a parent I would not be happy driving 2 hours to see my kid lose every weekend.

They can stay in NL and just drop to division 2 or 3 in the spring. Not a big deal - and the travel is very reasonable (as far north as Baltimore generally.) Much better than the GA set up last year.

I think the u13 are already in the lowest division of NL. Where would they go next?

I am so confused- I thought NL was just rebranded EDP? Is there a lower level EDP??

National League is the USYS conferences at U13 and older.

EDP manages the mid Atlantic and north east conferences.

“ The US Youth Soccer South Atlantic Conference, Managed by EDP Soccer, consists of teams primarily from Maryland, Delaware and Virginia. The top teams in the South Atlantic Conference top tier divisions will earn advancement to the US Youth Soccer Regional Championships (NCS) and automatically qualify for National League P.R.O.”

The other national league conference are here:

https://www.usysnationalleague.com/conferences/

Separately EDP has the EDP league for 11U-19U Boys & Girls. The top EDP teams are be promoted up to the national league conferences.

Somehow USYS is also affiliated with Elite64 (coppermine is the only local team) that is separate but affiliated with the national league conferences and national championship.

to further confuse USYS ‘advised’ GA whatever that meant, however GA was not part of the national league pyramid

US club soccer is completely separate closed pyramid that sanctions ecnl leagues

But Don’t worry there will something new to tempt clubs and parents next year. The joy of a non unified youth soccer pyramid.
