OK, so it's good to hear the Consumer Product Safety Commission is trying to keep lead off the shelves. But - uh - what's up with the product announced below? At first it seemed like it must have been a Colbert Report-type spoof on lead scares, a satire of stereotypes, or an April Fool's Day email floating around the internet. Nope. It's for real folks.

Thats terrible! |
I've seen these in gumball machines. |
My Dh had the same reaction, and I couldn't believe it. Those silly fake teeth you put in your mouth? They're all over the place... I feel like I've seen them in cheaper toy stores, gag gift stores, costume shops... None of these toy recalls should shock me anymore, but this one did -- THEY USED LEAD PAINT ON SOMETHING THE SOLE FUNCTION OF WHICH IS TO BE PLACED IN CHILDREN'S MOUTHS. Unbelievable. |
I've seen the product before in joke/gag shops. I am from the south and some members of my family have missing teeth due to poverty. I don't find it funny at all. They shouldn't be in stores in the first place. I think poor whites are the last PC ethnic group to make fun of. |
