Sorry if this has been covered but the WaPo has had a few good stories recently about what a mess the DC sports betting contract is. For example, today it comes out that the “house” lost money in June.
I assume this was another sweet deal for the Mayor but does anyone have any other insights than that? I just hope when this expires, DC let’s in more normal books like in VA and MD. |
Incompetent crony insiders were gifted the contract and bungled it exactly as you would expect. What else is new in DC?
the DC app sucks and now that maryland is up and running it has become, irrelevant
DC thought a contractor with only his mom as an employee working with a lottery provider could do a better job of creating an app than multi billion dollar companies already operating across the country and in cut throat competition with one another
My experience with the DC app is that it didn’t always work where it was supposed to, the interface was lousy, and the odds offered were bad. I briefly used it a few years ago. A recent Post story showed that there are regular inefficiencies in the odds that a knowledgeable bettor paying close attention could exploit. An example is odds for both teams in a game such that if you bet on both sides you automatically end up making money.
