Dropping a class after interims

My kid wants to drop a class but says it's too late. What does this mean exactly?

What are the consequences for dropping it this late in the quarter?

She has a couple of more days. She needs to see her counselor tomorrow. As long as she switches out this week, the class will not appear on her transcript.

When exactly is the last day to drop? Is it tomorrow? Are there any exceptions?

Guess it's probably related to interims.

I know it’s not until October something but not sure of the date. Just contact her guidance counselor immediately and she should be fine.

can you switch to different class? or just drop?

You can switch to another class. If you miss the deadline, you can still withdraw from a class, but there will be a notation on the transcript that the student withdrew with a grade of (whatever).

I think you have until the end of the 5th week which would be tomorrow to take care of this without it going on your record.

The drop date is the 25th day of school, which is 10/3. Dropping after that and the withdrawal is on the transcript.

If there isn’t an open section of a lower level to switch into, some counselors will try to force the kid to stay to keep them in a course they need for graduation. Please don’t do that if they are really struggling. Switch to a PE or easy/interesting elective for this semester and then figure out how to make up the course later (summer school or just take next year).
