| I learned just a bit ago that I lost some credit cards last week, ones that I do not use regularly so only take them out when I am going to those stores. Am I going to be liable for the delay in letting the card issuers know? |
| No, you won't be responsible for any charges made without your permission. You do need to lock down the accounts immediately, though. Consider whether it's even worth replacing the cards. Most of the time, store cards aren't worth the trouble, unless you shop there frequently and get some sort of discount or rebate. |
When she calls to report them lost, they will mail new ones. What’s this “trouble” you’re referring to? |
| Did someone make charges to them? |

OP, people are going to scare you for fun on this thread. Just ignore them.
Nobody checks their CC statements every day. The CC companies don’t expect this. One month my number was spoofed and I was making charges alongside the person who spoofed my card. It was a 5 minute phone call to dispute the charges and be issued a new card. So painless. (The same can’t be said for changing my card number on various files, like Netflix and Amazon. That took about an hour of fooling around.) |
According to all of the companies, no. |
OP, what do you want from this thread? In the time you’re wasting here, you could have just called and reported them all stolen. I think you can even do that through most apps. What are you looking for? |
OK so what are you worried about? |
The "trouble" is having to keep track of multiple cards and multiple statements and multiple payments when you can put all your purchases on one main card, preferably with a bonus feature such as cash back or travel miles. It's even worse if your wallet gets lost or stolen and you have to call each lender individually to report the theft. That's a lot of trouble, IMO. |
| I have a lot of credit cards (no debt) but I just keep the ones I don’t use in my safe and have 2-3 in my wallet and have auto pay on everything plus logging in once a month to check all balances. I once lost a credit card and was able to easily cancel it and get a replacement just using the app, took like 1 minute. |
