Potential NOLA water crisis

Anonymous
Anyone watching this with bated breath? Basically, due to drought, saltwater is intruding on the Mississippi River and will potentially impact the potent water supply in Louisiana, specifically the New Orleans area. This happened once in the 80s and actually ended up not being a huge deal, but it will be interesting to see how it plays out this time around.

I saw something about this. They have a plan to ship in water, if they need it, until the situation resolves. Bated breath? Is this a calamity? Didn't seem like it, from what I saw?

They are barging in fresh water. It will be OK. Which isn’t to say the low water levels are a good thing, but it’s not an immediate crisis.

It’ll destroy the pipes, which will be a crisis

It won't destroy them. Corrosion is accelerated with salinity. I don't think the length of time involved is anywhere near long enough to create problems. And sounds like its already a non issue with the situation reversing.
