I am 9 weeks pregnant and noticed light spotting last week (8 weeks) and went in for a scan. Doc said spotting can be normal and on the sonogram identified a subchoreonic hematoma, which she said is also fairly normal and typically heals. The bleeding stopped but then this evening at 9 weeks one day, the light spotting started again.
Have others experienced this? Any insights? I’m feeling very nervous about this. |

As much as you can, try to just take what the doctor says at face value. Definitely call and report the new spotting, and go in to be seen if they want you to, but otherwise try not to google it or go down the rabbit hole.
The exception is if you have pain and they don’t seem to understand how bad it is. The truth is there’s nothing you can do about it, so just keep updating your OB and do what they tell you. Good luck!! |
| I had this - baby turns five in a couple of weeks! Did your doctor take blood for progesterone? I would ask about supplementation with that - there is no downside other than its a little gross and it could really help. |
| Sounds like the SCH hasn't totally resolved. I had this for many weeks and pelvic rest was suggested: no sex, no lifting anything over 10 lbs, very light exercise (like walking). Unless it's lots of bleeding, I imagine it's the SCH! |
Echo this PP and others. I had this with one pregnancy and it resolved, bleeding stopped and baby is now a preschooler! Also had a MC that started with bleeding but then turned crampy shortly after. Usually just spotting is okay - cramps would be a new development to call you OB about. In the end there is nothing you can really do. |
| Had this with both kids. With my son I spotted or bled on and off for the first half of pregnancy. He’s one now and my daughter is 6. |
| I had spotting at around the same time and also had a SCH. I noticed the spotting once and then again about a week later. I was so worried, so I called my OB and they said to come in for a sono and everything was ok. I'm now 20 weeks and haven't had any more spotting. It's scary, but everything could be totally ok. |
| I had this with my third kid. Very light spotting, with some heavier spotting around 8 or 9 weeks, and then more light spotting for a few weeks longer. Diagnosed with an SCH that eventually resolved (by early second tri, I think). Sorry you are dealing with this anxiety. All worked out ok for me - that baby is an energetic 2.5 year old now. Hope all goes smoothly for you. |

I bled lightly during the first trimester for both of my successful pregnancies. No pain. Both times I went to the ER, which may not actually be advisable. The first doctor reassured me that all was normal, but the second told me peremptorily that I was having a miscarriage and that I needed to take a pill to evacuate everything. I didn't. And I gave birth to DD at 38 weeks. Thank goodness it wasn't my first, or I might actually have listened to her!
However, after those two pregnancies, I had a series of miscarriages at around 8-9 weeks, but the bleeding then was much heavier and lasted longer, with passing of tissue and cramps, etc. Completely different feel. |

I had spotting the first trimester. After a tough fertility journey, was prepared for the worst.
But the spotting resolved itself and the rest of the pregnancy was textbook. Hoping the best for you! |
| I just yelled at my “is this or is this not my belated period?” bleeding to choose a snack and close the fridge already. |
| Cramping is the symptom to watch for. |
| I had a small SCH. I had very mild spotting throughout my pregnancy along with moderate cramping. I thought for sure I would lose the pregnancy. It was an IVF pregnancy so I was on progesterone suppositories until 15 weeks. I could have stopped at 12, but I stayed on longer for peace of mind. My daughter is almost 7 months. |
| I had one around 8 weeks- bleeding and cramping. Got progesterone and doc recommended laying on the couch for a few days. Checked out with another sono in a few weeks and it was absorbing. OP, you could get another sono to make sure it’s not getting worse or healing slowly etc . |
| I had this with both kids! They are now 8 and 4! |
